Subjects and Courses
Students typically choose three to four subjects for their studies. These subjects span fields such as science, math, humanities, languages, and arts.
Examinations
A-Levels mainly assess students through written examinations typically conducted in May or June. These examinations aim to evaluate students' understanding of the subject contents
Length of Study
Students typically study the A-Level course for two years. Usually starting their studies in the last two years of secondary education (Year 12 and Year 13 or Secondary 5 and 6).
Coursework
Some subjects require students to complete courseworks throughout their studies, including essay assignments, projects or laboratory/ practical assessments. The weight of coursework varies by subjects.
Grading Systems
A-Level courses are graded from A* (Highest) to E (Lowest). These results are reflective of students' final examination performance, including courseworks.
Examination Boards
Examination boards offering GCE A-Level examinations includes AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, CAIE, CCEA and ICAAE. Curriculum and exam structure may differ depending on the student's country and the exam bureau followed.
